CALL TO ACTION TO LEAVE NO CHILD BEHIND

Theme for 2019 UNGA Rights of the Child Resolution

A group of national and international NGOs and networks, supported by members of the Child Rights Connect working group on children without appropriate parental care, would like to inform you about the "Call to Action to Leave No Child Behind" letter, calling for the 2019 UNGA Third Committee resolution on the Rights of the Child to focus on children without, or at-risk of losing parental care, in view of the 10th anniversary of the Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children in 2019.

This key group of children are, all too often, left behind and it would be an intention of this resolution to reaffirm Member States’ commitment to the rights of these children.  It would also be an opportunity to take stock of the progress made in adhering to the Guidelines, encourage a recommitment to its implementation, and also to establish clear links to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Open Letter with instructions on how to endorse and sign on to it, is attached with over 30 partners supporting the theme, and supportive organisations are encouraged to add their endorsement as soon as possible and please to also circulate widely within your individual networks." The call to action is available in English, French & Spanish
