With over seven million kids of school age either out of school, or not having access to educational programmes in Nigeria, Child Life-Line, non-government, not for profit organization, has called on government, Corporate organisations and individuals to make donation, offer employment and training opportunities for street kids in the country.

Stakeholders in the services of rescuing orphaned and vulnerable children has raised alarm over increasing number of street children in Nigeria, saying if this alarmist trend is not reduced, the country may be heading for what it described as "socio- economic disaster".

The high rate of child abuse and corporal punishment in the country has been attributed to lack of awareness on the part of the government, parents, guardians and teachers. Despite the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, many States and not only in Africa still use corporal punishment as the only way to disciplining children.
