14 January 2017 - A Sub-Saharan Africa Study Report on the Sexual Exploitation of Children in Travel and Tourism (SECTT) was launched recently at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Harare by the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry of Zimbabwe, Dr Walter Mzembi, who is also the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Regional Commission for Africa Chairperson, and the African Union Candidate for the position of UNWTO Secretary General. The launch was a joint initiative by ECPAT International and the Zimbabwe National Council for the Welfare of Children (ZNCWC) and the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

11 October 2016 - The Zimbabwean girl child is part of a large and vibrant global generation poised to take on the future, if a positive enabling environment is created for her. Zimbabwe is also contributing to the ambitious goal for gender equality in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which highlights the preponderance of disadvantage and discrimination borne by girls everywhere across the ten provinces of the country on a daily basis.

28 September 2016 - The South African Basic Education minister, Angie Motshekga was in the country recently for a series of meetings with her Zimbabwean counterpart, Dr Lazarus Dokora to see how the two countries may collaborate going forward. In the press conference held just after their engagement, she showered praises on the local education system and expressed keenness to adopt some of Zimbabwean methods of operation.

29 February 2016 – Government is set to introduce a Bill in Parliament that seeks to facilitate the speedy alignment of Marriage Laws and the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act to the Constitution, Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development Minister Nyasha Chikwinya has said. Addressing delegates to a symposium on child marriages on Friday, Minister Chikwinya said the landmark ruling invalidating child marriages was a major milestone in the campaign against the scourge in Zimbabwe.

HARARE, 31 July 2015 - “We have a crisis on our hands. The UN estimates that 15 million girls experience child marriage each year. That is more than the entire population of Zimbabwe. We must move from vulnerability to voice and leadership. Africa is young and full of innovation. This energy must be harnessed to ensure that we have lasting solutions", said Ms. Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, the AU Goodwill Ambassador on Ending Child Marriage in Africa at the national launch of the AU Campaign to End Child Marriage in Africa which held at the Harare International Conference Centre, under the theme "We are Girls not Brides".
