The Day of the African Child is celebrated on 16 June every year in commemoration of the 1976 massacre of SOWETO children in the then apartheid South Africa. The theme for this year is "All Together for Urgent Actions in Favour of Street Children". We present below a collection of resources on this year's theme including a message from the Chairperson of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, a statement by the Special Representative of the Secretary General on Violence Against Children and much more. We believe that these resources are important in promoting this year's theme. Any related submissions are welcome (please send them to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
