Launch of the African Report on Child Wellbeing 2016

On May 12th 2017, The African Child policy Forum (ACPF) and The Graça Machel Trust are launching The African Report on Child Wellbeing 2016 - Getting It Right: Bridging the gap between policy and practice at a media-focused event in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The 4th edition of ACPF’s flagship report is based on careful monitoring of the situation of children throughout the continent. It discusses the need for the fulfilment of child rights, the protection of the child, and the African child’s overall wellbeing. The report is part of a series of reports launched every two years and which regularly monitor the performance of African Governments in realising the rights and wellbeing of children, analyse the contexts with a child rights lens and provide policy options that governments could consider as they devise strategies to enhance child protection.
The 2016 edition focuses on child rights implementation with the objective of drawing attention to the gap between policy and practice pertaining to children, to improve knowledge of the factors affecting the implementation process in African countries, to share good practices in enhancing effectiveness of implementation efforts and overall contribute to national and regional endeavours to expedite the realisation of the rights and wellbeing of all children in Africa.
